Implementing Lean to delivery better patient care and boost performance
Harmoni Health Services is an organisation focused on supplying clinical services for the NHS to the Primary Care Market. Managing patient care as effectively, safely and efficiently as possible is at the forefront of the healthcare organisation.
As an expanding business, providing Out-of-Hours services to 3.2 million people across England, it became apparent that advancing the organisation was as important as expanding it. With UK healthcare provision facing unprecedented changes, it was crucial that Harmoni ‘lean-up’ their processes to manage patient care, whilst maintaining financial balance and sustaining growth.
Harmoni engaged WCI Consulting in an eight-week programme of work to deliver a data analysis and process mapping exercise. The scope of which was to understand how the patient progresses along the care pathway; and by standardising processes, realising the value that needs to be delivered to patients, and identifying performance gains against defined patientcentred operational measures.
The outcome was the design of a future state model that recognised accumulative unconstrained service improvement savings in excess of £2 million.
