Only Connect or Integrate

At the end of October 08, a flurry of stories appeared in the newspapers arguing that the National Programme for IT in the NHS was “grinding to a halt.” NHS Connecting for Health, the agency that runs it, denied this, saying there would be new plans by year end.

Yet systems integration specialists tell a different story: one of trusts getting tired of waiting for all singing, all dancing “strategic” solutions, and looking for systems to meet pressing policy, business and clinical needs.
